Why 90 days before opening conversations?

Most owners open conversations without knowing their sellability score or which gaps lower the multiple. The first 90 days are to measure preparation, prioritize gaps, and decide whether to fix before the table or negotiate with eyes open.

What to do in weeks 1–2?

Complete the Vestcrest questionnaire (~30 min), get score, prioritized gaps, and defensible range. Share the PDF with your CFO, accountant, or lawyer. Schedule the 30-minute session to interpret which gaps move valuation more than negotiating 0.5× at the table.

What to do in weeks 3–8?

Attack gaps marked High impact: customer concentration, informal documentation, owner dependency. If score is below 60, or below 65 with high-impact gaps, consider Strategy for a 90-day plan with Abelardo before contacting funds or brokers.

If informal documentation is one of your priority gaps, the guide financial documentation before the table describes the levels and what raises your score.

What to do in weeks 9–12?

Review whether documented and operational preparation improved. If score rose and critical gaps are closed, you can open counterparty conversations. If material gaps remain, stay on Strategy or postpone the market. Negotiating without preparation costs more than waiting.
